A Desk Officer who is at the front window greets the public. They take reports at the window and by phone. This assists the officers in the field so they can have more time for their crime prevention activities. The desk officers also do fingerprinting and assist records. Records clerks still assist the public with obtaining reports as needed.

Records works closely with the Utah Bureau of Criminal Identification and Federal Bureau of Investigations to gather information for State and Federal statistics. The information is gathered through the Spillman System. Reports are generated and sent to the Utah Bureau of Criminal Identification. They in turn report it to the FBI and other agencies as needed.

This division also assists in evidence reporting, permits, impounds citation processing and report transcribing.
