Holiday Safety Tips
The holiday season, a time of fun, family and other events. A time to share the bounties and joys with each other. Unfortunately, it is also a time that home burglaries and vehicle break ins increase. Midvale Police would like all of our citizens to enjoy a carefree, crime free holiday season.
Home Security Tips:
Keep all doors locked at all times and use the deadbolt lock.
Keep a porch light on from dark until you go to bed, all night is better.
If you have a home alarm, use it always while you are away.
Make sure all windows are closed and securely locked. Additional locks are available for little cost at the home repair stores.
Vehicle Safety Tips:
Keep all vehicles locked at all times.
Keep all valuables out of the vehicle. If an item is visible, your chances of a break in increase substantially.
If you have a car alarm, use it always.
While holiday shopping, keep all packages out of sight, preferably locked in the trunk.
Keep receipts separate from the new purchases.
Carry as little cash as possible.
Shop with a partner, there is security in numbers.
The Midvale Police Department has many brochures on home security, personal safety, child safety and many other topics. Feel free to come and get brochures on the topics you have an interest in.
