Halloween Safety Tips
Halloween is a fun time for our children. Let us keep it fun and safe at the same time. Your Midvale Police Officers will be out and patrolling through the neighborhoods. The following suggestions will help you keep your children safe. If you suspect that your child’s candy has been tampered with, please call us immediately, Dispatch 840-4000. Please save the candy and the wrapper in case we need to send it back to the manufacturer.
Wear light colored clothing that is short enough to prevent tripping and add reflective tape to the sides, front and back of the costume.
Make sure children can see well through face masks, or use cosmetics to create fun or scary faces.
Keep costumed children away from pets. The pet may not recognize the child and become frightened.
Avoid hard plastic or wood props such as daggers or swords. Substitute with foam rubber, which is soft and flexible.
Adults should accompany you children on their rounds.
Stay within the neighborhood and only visit homes you know.
Go out in daylight and carry a flashlight in case of delay.
Watch for traffic when crossing the road.
Only give and accept wrapped or packaged candy.
Examine all candy before allowing children to eat it.
Stay safe always and never hesitate to call your police department. We need your help in knowing what problems need attention. We need to work together to make Midvale City a safer, more secure place to live.
