Fraud or Identity Theft is when someone takes, uses, sells or transfers identifying information of another person without that persons consent or approval with the intent to use that information for unlawful purpose.

GANGS
The most prevalent gang crime is criminal mischief such as graffiti and property damage. The present gang culture bases it's decisions to act upon style of dress as well as verbal and non-verbal communication. Within the City of Midvale there are several documented gangs and gang members. The importance of colors, symbols and numbers to gang members is very high. Parents that are aware of these symbols can help deter their children from becoming involved with gangs. Midvale police has education classes for parents and concerned citizens through Neighborhood Watch.

RAVES/DANCE PARTIES
We would encourage all of our residents to get the facts on Raves/Dance parties. We would also encourage you to keep your children away from any parties where you are not sure of who is attending or what they will be doing. If you find that you child is in possession of baby pacifiers, brightly colored clothing, glow sticks and other unusual paraphernalia, they may be involved in these activities. Many victims of rape know their attacker. This is called date rape or acquaintance rape. Nothing entitles anyone to force others to perform sexual acts without consent. It is a betrayal of trust and causes long lasting emotional injuries.

- What should I do if I think my vehicle was stolen?
- Ensure the vehicle was not taken by a family member who is authorized to use it.
- If you are late making payments on the vehicle, contact your lender to find out if the vehicle was repossessed.
- If you are confident the vehicle was taken without authorization, contact Midvale dispatch at (801) 840-4000 to file a theft report.
- If checks or credit cards were left inside your vehicle, contact the issuing bank as soon as possible to prevent unauthorized charges. If a cell phone was in the vehicle, contact the carrier to cancel service.
- What are some theft prevention tips?
- Never leave a vehicle unattended with the engine running or the keys inside.
- Do not store wallets, purses, cell phones, electronics or other valuables in a vehicle.
- Use a steering wheel or brake pedal anti-theft device. Use the device according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- What information will I need to provide when filing the theft report?
- The time, date and location the vehicle was last seen
- The time and date you discovered the theft
- The vehicle description, license plate number and issuing state
- The owner’s name, address and contact phone numbers
- What happens with the information I provide?
- A theft report will be completed by the responding officer and you will receive a case/report number. The vehicle information will be provided to Midvale Records for listing on a national theft database. The contact information you provide will be used to notify you when the vehicle is recovered.
